Happy Halloween – My Frida Costume
So I didn’t even know that Frida could play guitar but apparently it was one of her talents. I was at a friends house on Halloween strumming her Taylor and she snapped this photo. I incorporated a shot of Frida with her guitar in Photoshop.
When I dressed up as Frida I needed a good spot with no time-tellers in the photo so I chose a withering crop out in a field. I used Photoshop to add a painted touch.
The ingredients for the costume included sewing a very long pink border at the bottom of a long black skirt.
My Dress Hangs There. I also added the pink jumbo rick rack near the bottom.
The scarf was found on E-Bay and I found flowers at Hobby Lobby. I just snipped off the ends and when I found how to assemble the Frida hair style I stuck the flowers under the top braid and clamped them in with tiny combs.
This is the necklace that I left up to an expert to create. I gave her the mood board below with several images of Frida and her jewelery. Christina Smith @ Lotus Tree Designs
When I began searching for clothing on E-Bay I came up with the above, but sadly I did not win that top on the upper right and man was that an awesome top! The black shirt was neat but didn’t really compliment the skirt so I put that away and went for a white gathered peasant top because the fuchsia scarf was really going to make the statement. This year I wore black sleeves because of the cold.
