Instacart Alcohol Delivery in Atlanta
If you haven’t heard the news Atlanta, you will soon be able to add wine and beer to your Instacart shopping list, and I’m sure Shipt won’t be too far behind. (Alabama also!) Other states have enjoyed this little side benefit and now you too, fellow city dwellers, will be able to tack on that 4-pack of delectable Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. Or a nice bottle of La Crema Cabernet Sauvignon.
Alcohol delivery is good news for Instacart contractors because it will increase their volume of work and it will mean many less dropping items off at doorsteps for no tip. Delivering groceries to a human being versus a front stoop is much nicer, and it allows the contractor to increase their earnings.
It’s also going to cause problems. If a customer orders fifty dollars worth of groceries and then tacks on a bottle of wine but fails to get home in time for the delivery, then the bottle of wine goes back to the store. Now the irritated customer has to run by a store to pick up a bottle of wine, and we’re sure that will reflect in the tip.
Also, while the contractor is in the store, there will be more back and forth between customer about which bottle of wine to get or style of craft beer to substitute. I don’t know about you, but if the store is out of Founders Redankulous, then no substitution will work.
I wonder how the balance between retail package stores and grocery alcohol purchase will change? You can grab good deals on wine at Target, so if Shipt isn’t far behind Instacart on alcohol delivery, you’ll also reap those rewards. An excellent little strategic partnership with Hop City would be a wise move since they have such a huge selection but if you are Hop City, does another 10-20% markup feel right?
As an Instacart and Shipt contractor, you should get familiar with varieties of wine and styles of beer – it will come in handy when you find that the selected item is no longer in stock. Being able to send a message, “Hi! That Basement IPA you wanted isn’t in stock, unfortunately, but they have the Creature Comforts Tropicalia!” If you delivered beer to my house and had said that to me I’d give you a high rating and a cash tip!
In Atlanta and all over the country, it’s the “Bring it to me I’m too busy to shop for myself” era and adding alcohol delivery to the mix is a game changer for Instacart and Shipt shoppers. Many shoppers, including me, have been messaged by a customer, “Hey, could you grab a bottle of…” while shopping. Alcohol delivery via Shipt or Instacart means we can say, “Of course! What variety do you prefer?”.
